***I need help with the Reverb Nation code***

Postby TonyasDynamicDesigns on Sat Mar 23, 2013 7:18 pm

Hi everyone,

My reverb nation code makes my footer disappear
when I upload my website page into NVU to edit.

Here is how my website page looks with my
Reverb Nation music player added before the footer.

Go to http://www.smokehousestudios.net/website-pages/reverb-nation-code.html

So, I took out the reverb nation code and now
my website page can be edited in NVU without
the footer disappearing.

I tried putting the reverb nation code into a table
to separate it from the rest of the code, but NVU
still deleted the footer.

What can I do to the reverb nation code in order
to use it correctly in my NVU editor and why
would the code make my footer disappear in NVU?

I was thinking about putting my reverb nation code
into a div of its own hoping that will fix the problem.
What would the code be that I can use?
The iframe code is the problem.

Thanks for your help,
Tonya

Code: Select all

<div class="widget_iframe" style="display:inline-block;width:100%;height:260px;margin:0;padding:0;border:0;"><iframe class="widget_iframe" src="http://www.reverbnation.com/widget_code/html_widget/artist_2401293?widget_id=50&pwc[design]=default&pwc[background_color]=%23333333&pwc[included_songs]=1&pwc[photo]=0%2C1&pwc[size]=fit" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe><div class="footer_branding" style="margin-top:-5px;font-size:10px;font-family:Arial;"><center></center></div></div>
<div/>

<div id="footer">
(my footer text goes here and I close it with a DIV)
<div/>

Since you are working with XHTML code I would suggest that you upgrade to KompoZer 0.7.10 here. KompoZer is a bug fix version of NVu with some additional development time. The 0.8b3 version does have known bugs in its XHTML handling.

I am not familiar enough with XHTML code, but the self-closing style div tag at the end looks suspect. In the source view FireFox shows the slash in red. Try a conventional div closing tag as in the line above.

Having an iframe present on the page causes NVu/KompoZer some confusion. There will be a pop-up warning on opening the page: 'Page can not be edited for an unknown reason'. What the poor little buddy is actually concerned about is the content of the iframe so just click through the warning and the rest of the page can generally be edited without problem.

Thank you for your help.
Do you know if there is another way the
iframe code can be written that way
NVU will not delete the code out anymore?

Thanks,
Tonya

It has been years since I had a copy of NVu on a computer but I just opened the page in KompoZer without problem. As always the pop-up warning showed but clicking through allows the page to be edited. KompoZer rewrote the <div/> as <div> and proceeded about its business showing the footer without problem.

Ok, Kompozer messed up the page too.

I need to know HOW I can embed this Reverb Nation player
without using <iframe>. Do you know how I can do this please?

The link to the music player is below:

In what way did KompoZer mess up the page? When I opened the page earlier I just looked to see that the footer was there and looked at the code to see how KompoZer had handled it. I just now reopened the page in KompoZer and saved it to my computer. I then opened the page on my computer with FireFox and the player was there and the page in tact. I was even able to listen to the sound bites. The player did not load in KompoZer but the area was blocked off and the loading wheel was turning.

I do see a couple of special characters in the code. There is a setting in KompoZer that may need to be changed. On the tools menu go to options and then click on advanced on the left. Check the bottom check box 'Don't encode special characters in attribute values'. Then please try again.

I have used KompoZer with iframe code in the past without problem, but don't recall if the objects displayed within KompoZer. This player is HTML5 which is beyond KompoZer's capability and that or the scripts used in the player may be preventing KompoZer from displaying the player.

Ok, I learned how to embed the code with Java script
and the code now works with NVU and also with Komposer.

The code that I used to embed the iframe is below just in case
anyone else wants to know how to embed the Reverb Nation player:
Code: Select all
<script type="text/javascript">
var urlPath='http://www.reverbnation.com/widget_code/html_widget/artist_2401293?widget_id=50&pwc[design]';
document.write('<iframe scrolling="yes" frameborder="0" height="255" width ="963" src="'+urlPath+'"><\/iframe>');
</script>
