I just downloaded KompoZer 0.7.10 (ZIP file) and after unzipping it, searched for an "install" file but did not see one. I found file "Kompozer.exe" and ran that; the program ran fine.
Is there no installation? I don't mind either way. |

So to install KompoZer 0.7.10, do I just unzip the file, copy the contents somewhere sensible, and set up a short cut to kompozer.exe if I want one?
Does the installer do anything anything else? _________________ drghughes |

Thats what I did, when I unzipped the files I was asked where I wanted them put, browsed to program files and put them there, I then navigated to that folder and created a shortcut for KompoZer.exe and put it on my desktop.
I'm using XP by the way. |

Thanks SRD!
What happens to your preferences if you do this? Is there a file that I need to save?
I've just been looking in the existing KompZer directory and I can't see any obvious differences between the files in there and the files in the .zip file, so won't that mean that any existing preferences are over-written. _________________ drghughes |

| I unzipped to Program files, not to the KompoZer folder, this meant that a new folder 'Kompozer 0.7.10' was created. I imagine, but don't know so it might be worthwhile checking out the other threads (use search 'install' ) or waiting for it to be confirmed by one of the more knowledgeable people here, that copying the preferences folder from your old installation will do the trick. But, I repeat, I don't know that for sure. |

Your preferences are stored in a "profile" directory independent of the program's files. Exact location varies by operating system. The updated program version should find and use your existing profile. _________________ "Program in haste; debug at leisure."

I unzipped the files onto a USB device and use it on any windows computer I want.
There is no better way to do it as I am a fairly portable type of user, with more than one PC.
